Full compliance health check closed every open item ahead of a bank refinancing review
Family-owned regional distribution company, 20+ employees
Challenge
A second-generation family business had grown from a single location to operations across three states without formalizing HR policy, updating governing documents, or tracking state-level registration and license renewals. A pending refinancing review meant the bank would be looking directly at exactly the gaps the organization hadn't yet addressed.
Approach
We ran a full compliance health check across registration documents, governing documents, business and professional licenses, and state-level registrations in all three operating states. In parallel, we reviewed existing HR policy and employment documentation against current staffing, and built KPI and performance-metric tooling the management team could actually use in day-to-day decisions, not just at review time.
Result
Every open compliance item — including two lapsed state registrations neither owner had realized had expired — was identified and resolved ahead of the bank's review. HR policy and employment documentation were brought current, and the ownership team walked into the refinancing conversation with a clean compliance file instead of open questions.
We'd been operating on the same policies since we were a single-location shop. Seeing everything laid out state by state made it obvious how much we'd outgrown our own paperwork.
